Being Involved with our Communities

A healthy, thriving community depends upon volunteerism and corporate and individual giving. At Cornerstone Credit Union, we are committed to supporting programs and non-profit organizations that make a positive impact. The credit union philosophy of "People Helping People" is the core of our heritage and remains a high priority.

Aspects of our community involvement include:

  • Support of employee giving and volunteerism
  • Local charitable event & project support
  • Encouraging member giving
  • Fostering partnerships with other community service organizations, focusing on health, hunger, home ownership, and financial education
  • Encouraging educational achievement through our Founders’ Scholarships, offering three annual $5,000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors.

33rd Annual Children's Fair - Sauk Valley 

Cornerstone Credit Union welcomed around 400 kids during the 33rd Annual Children's Fair, held at Sauk Valley Community College On April 22, 1017. We handed out coloring books and a special offer to help kids get a start at saving for the future.

Congratulations to Lynette Roach and Geoffrey Bork, who each won one of the gift baskets!

Money Smart Week - April 22 - 29

Cornerstone Credit Union is a proud sponsor of Money Smart Week (MSW), a program offering free financial education events throughout the community (visit CCU hosted MSW events in Jo Daviess, Stephenson and Winnebago counties. We thank everyone who took advantage of these informative programs.

Easter Joy

Krape Park Bunny Trail, Freeport

CCU was greeted by as many as 500 visitors on April 16th, as they stopped by to greet our CU-CA$H bunny. They also received a coloring book and special coupons for adults and kids alike.

We were pleased to see so many people enjoying a beautiful Spring day in the park!

CU-CA$H Visits Sterling Children!

CU-CA$H was busy greeting our children at our Sterling branch on April 8th and the kids enjoyed meeting the friendly bunny! They were also happy to receive treats and goodies. 

RoRo Expo, Roscoe

CCU greeted over 250 people who visited our booth at the RoRo Expo on April 1 & 2 in the Roscoe Middle School. In its 21st year, this  premier event showcases businesses and non-profit organizations who serve the Roscoe / Rockton /South Beloit communities..

Home & Garden Show, Sterling

CCU’s Sterling branch hosted a booth at the Home & Garden Show in Sterling, March 11 & 12 in Northland Mall. We enjoyed greeting many CCU members along with meeting new friends.Those who visited could enter to win one of two lovely gift baskets. Pictured are our winners: Cheryl Forster from Morrison (with MSR, Carolitza Mendoza) won the spring gardening basket and Renee McBride from Dixon (with Branch Manager, Lupita Bonnell) won the outdoor barbeque fun basket. 

Cornerstone had two exclusive offers to home show attendees including a Home Equity Loan special and a CD special. If you visited our booth and want to take advantage of these, bring your coupon in to any branch!

Head2Toe Women's Expo, Freeport

Our 1st event in 2017 was participating in this Freeport-based expo presented by the Freeport Journal Standard. This women's expo offered a special place for ladies to hang out for a few hours to shop, get pampered, seek financial advice, enjoy refreshments and much more. It was held Sunday, February 26 at Aquin High School. 

Winners of the gift basket drawing are Debra Cox (left), who drove away with the Travel Basket and Lynn Tucker, who can luxuriate in her Spa Basket. Congratulations ladies!

CCU Supports United Way of NW IL
